Domestic choices
Finnish origin is a real competitive advantage today, and member companies should make sure it is clearly visible and heard in everything they do. Finnish origin strongly influences purchasing decisions, and the Key Flag Mark provides a concrete and impactful way to communicate it.
Finnishness is a strength that is reflected in consumers’ strong preference for Finnish products and services. According to the 60 Years of the Key Flag Mark survey by the Association for Finnish Work, the Finnish origin of a product or service has a major influence on the purchasing decisions of 74% of Finns. This is no surprise, as the Key Flag Mark evokes strong emotions: trust, security, patriotism, and pride.
Have you already integrated the Key Flag logo and its meaning into the core of your business? There are many ways to do this, and the mark supports marketing communications, sales, and exports alike. Customers want to make meaningful choices, so let’s make it easy for them. The more often the mark is seen, the more likely customers and stakeholders are to notice it. Let the flag fly!

The Key Flag Mark Moves Finland Forward
The significance of the Key Flag Mark lies in its ability to move Finland forward. It is not about looking back, but about looking ahead — boldly, confidently, encouragingly, and with the belief that we can succeed.
Finnish work has always been a key driver of growth, and it will continue to be so even as the nature of work changes rapidly. It is the key to progress, success, and development — and ultimately to wellbeing and a functioning society. Simply put: a key to a brighter future.
That is why it is always worth flying the flag for Finnish work, regardless of nationality. All work produced by employees of Finnish companies is equally valuable. The mark is not just a standalone emblem; it needs the support of your company’s story. Tell that story!
The Key Flag Mark Also Supports Export Markets
Did you know that the Key Flag Mark can also be used in export markets? Finland’s country brand is highly valued around the world, and the Key Flag Mark is strongly associated with Finland. The Finland brand is a powerful way to conquer international markets.
In Finland, companies are fully capable of manufacturing products for European needs — what is needed is simply the courage to go global. Excellent examples include Avant Tecno from Ylöjärvi, which has delivered nearly 100,000 loaders worldwide.
Forest machine manufacturer Ponsse from Iisalmi has been conquering global markets for more than 50 years, beginning its international journey in Germany. Sinituote and Motonet are growing rapidly in the Swedish market. Plastex is increasing its exports in Germany, to name just a few examples. Finnish services are also highly valued internationally, as demonstrated by CHS Air & Sea, which provides transport, freight forwarding, and logistics services.
According to our 2025 member survey, 57% of member companies say that the Key Flag Mark supports sales in Europe, and 46% globally.*
What Does the Key Flag Mark Communicate?
The Key Flag Mark is a symbol of Finnish work that has been in use for more than 60 years — first as a campaign mark and later as a mark of origin. It indicates that a product is manufactured in Finland and that more than 50% of the product’s value added remains in Finland, contributing to Finnish employment and wellbeing.
It is important to remember that Finland is a small country, and not all raw materials or components are available domestically. That is why this threshold was established already 50 years ago.
For services, Finnish ownership and work carried out in Finland generate employment and tax revenue domestically. Shopping in a Finnish online store is safe, and for merchants the market is limitless.
We need all of this now more than ever. The Key Flag Mark strengthens the appreciation and recognition of Finnish work. Only together can we succeed. Raise the flag high!
